Positive Black News
I like to keep up with the news in the world especially politics but as an African American I look for Black news that reflect people of my heritage and am fed up with the ignorance that is reflected upon my heritage. Violence, crime and stupidity happen everywhere but for once it is nice to find Black news that is positive. Frankly I do not wish to read about Lil Wayne's sex life or someone doing something stupidity and I was a little saddened by the fact that when googling black news I find more about Chris Brown and Rhianna and the hip hop community. Now don't get me wrong I look at all news types but I dislike Black news allowing itself to be limited to just hip hop news. As Black people we are more than just the music and although it is a great attribute to the black community, it has lost its prestige to filth and fluff. I listen to many hip hop and R&b music but I like to hear about more than just sex, violence and cars. We are better than that and yes I respect people's right to the freedom of expression. But I also understand that talent can become a waste if you do not produce anything of substance. Being frank and blunt as an artist about what is really happening is not the same as glorifying ignorance. That is where I have a problem. Well anyways here is a site I can across that has positive Black news. I will be checking in on it but it looks to be filled with more than just fluff. http://www.todaysdrum.com/

The Alchemist
I have recently finished reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and I have read many books but this one is special. It touched me in such a way that I feel so rejuvenated mentally and I can honestly say that it will make you ponder in a positive way. I have found my favorite book and I recommend it to anyone who believes that you have a purpose in life. Even if you don't know what that purpose this book is a great experience.

Discussion Topic: What is the meaning of Sex (the act of intimacy)
A thread was sent my way from a group of my friends and they ask what is the meaning of sex. I have not posted to the thread as of this moment but I plan to. But I wanted to write about it here first and it is interesting because I observed the replies from my friends and I agreed with I think two or three people. I think that sex is something that is special and in many ways being abused by many people. It is something that would be ideal to accompany a committed relationship such as a marriage but in many cases it does not. I do not feel that it is my place to tell someone they are wrong to have sex with someone they do not love or are married or committed to but I know it happens. Sometimes sex is an experience that disappoints because other things are not in line with the exchange or connection of two bodies. Sexual relations has become something that is handed out like a piece of candy and I don't mean to compare sex to candy but hey it works for this piece. Sex should be special and sometimes it is given to people who do not deserve it. Both men and women have sex daily and sometimes it is not that special candle lit experience but even simple sex such as the basic carnal satisfying of needs and not so much the love making shared between lovers should be with someone special. Like candy it can be given to anyone but it should be a special candy because with sex comes things that may need a solid foundation to overcome or withstand or prevent. Sex can result in the procreation of life and sometimes it can result in the catching of a disease or infection. These things are life changing whether briefly, long term or whatever the case may be. And even the emotion and spiritual connection of sex is often ignored and that's when sex has become like candy. Candy can be given to anyone with out a commitment, presence of emotion or spiritual exchange but sex is not candy and no matter how many people would like to believe it can be candy and not a serious thing it is being abused. Humans need to be more careful with their intimate dealings and yes sex follows the carnal desire of the flesh and even though some people are not married or committed or thinking of the importance of sex it still happens. Sex is something that is underrated in its meaning. The task us humans need to achieve is to place the importance back into sex and it is not my intentions to judge any one because I am not perfect in the way I have always treated sex but I can say I do at this moment place importance next to my intimate exchange and when I look at my daughter I know that sex is more than just something to pass time. It is an act of intimacy that should be for someone special. To each their own on wether they are married but I do feel a commitment is something that should be in the mix of that levelof intimacy.
Discussion Topic: Reperations for African Americans
I have come across an article about the efforts of a activist group fighting for reparations for African Americans. As an African American I do have an opinion on this topic and it would have some type of effect on my life as well as many others. I will be posting multiple times on this topic because I feel it deserves to be thought about, acted upon and not be put on the back burner. First I would like to say I am not a bitter Black woman but I do give credit to the affect it has had on the lives of many African American AKA Black individuals but I do not think that it is a valid excuse for the way of life in America when anything is possible when you put forth the effort. I will say that sometimes no matter how much effort someone puts forth they may never achieve their goal but sometimes that is life but there is no excuse for not trying to achieve something. If anything was easy then everyone would be lazy and even then still be able to get things done. Some may take that I am saying that some people deserve to struggle or are lazy because of their circumstances but I am not. Each individuals situation is unique to their history and life. Only God knows what will happen but what I believe is that something as big or small as Reparations is not an excuse it should be fuel for motivation or that fight to be achieved but not a crutch to say I am living badly because of not having it. Yes it is unfair that it has not been given to African American while Jewish people were given something for having been through the Holocaust or the Japanese for having the bombings happen to their ancestors. And no I am not being cold or unsympathetic I do feel that these incidents were inhumane but so was slavery and the days of segregation. Civil rights has come a long way but playing catch up has not been an easy game for many African Americans and yet I acknowledge this I do not use it as a crutch. Anything is possible...i.e Oprah, Obama, Denzel Washington, Will Smith and the many Blacks that have become someone by the sweat of their brow and the fruits of their efforts. It is hard and sometimes impossible but the impossible becomes the possible with the determination and the mentality that even though I, We have yet to receive reparations or the opportunities that other immigrants receive even if they are American born we must push forward and do what we must in spite of the situations at hand. We must be survivors and push forward despite of the circumstances. Even if we do not succeed we as human being need to have goals, accomplishments and something to show for our life's work. We must create a legacy for our children and if we do not receive reparations in this life time we must still attempt to achieve the achievable and try the unachievable to make it the achieved. I know many may agree as well as many may disagree. I am sharing my opinion, perspective and i ask that others respect mine because I will respect yours even if I dispute it. I welcome converstaion but I will not tolerate disrespect or ignorance. As should no one else.
